Why PFIA? The Professional Flooring Installers Association (PFIA) is the trade organization for flooring contractors and specialists serving commercial customers. Our members are INSTALL certified. They employ skilled union installers and adhere to the highest standards for safety and quality.

PFIA Background Formed in 1981, the PFIA now has more than 40 Chicagoland and national flooring business members. Our endeavor is to promote professionalism and skilled union labor in the workplace and to remain committed to the advancement of the flooring industry. Initially established to maintain an effective working relationship with organized labor, the PFIA has expanded its focus to include an emphasis on quality workmanship, safety training and the continued education of our labor force.

PFIA Standards Flooring installation is a practiced professional craft, that for many of our members, has been handed down from generation to generation. Our members take great pride in their workmanship. They adhere to stringent quality standards, maintain a commitment to training, and support apprenticeship programs and manufacturer certifications.
